Looking back to: Jamboree on the air in 2006.

Every year in the third weekend October the Jamboree On The air (IOTA) is being held.
And last weekend was it again 49e the time that this event took place.
During this worldwide event scoutinggroups can come in contact with each other thru radioamateurs. From Zeeland this year the following groups participated:

- Kazan de Wolf - Middelburg (PA3GEO/J en PA1FZH/J)

- De Canisiusgroep - Kloosterzande (PA0WLM/J)

- De Baden Powell groep - Arnemuiden (PA3GFW/J)

Kazan the wolf does participate already more than 22 years to the IOTA and in the past years you a shift in the interests.
Transmitting is going to the background, but what comes in place for that thing like foxhunting ,GPS and APRS

During the several meetings by the scoutingmembers some ideas became suggested and in consultation between the Radioamateurs the programme was put together.

For the youngest branch (the beavers, 5 - 7 years) Robert, PA3GEO, already a few years have a good programme with what LPD contacts and some very slow speed morse.

Also there was a colouring plate that the scouts did colour in there..
For the age group afterwards (the Esta's, 7 - 11 years) a combination of APRS and Foxhunting was chosen.  From the VERON department Vlissingen the bunker was made available as second club space.

Because of this the  two groups where visible on APRS to their excursion from Middelburg-South to the bunker Biggekerke..

And the Esta's could follow their group members and by means of 70 cm indications to be given there to the following groups.

After the lunch the fox hunting principles were in short repeated and went the Esta's in groups of 4 man in search of the 80 meters fox. For us as radioamateurs this is rather easy, but by the Esta control persons there was a complete tale concerning crashed down spacecrafts and the AIVD around invented, what entirely an extra tense dimension gave.  For the Scouts (the age group up to 14 years) a GPS course excursion and savages this at night combine course excursion with APRS. Unfortunately appeared that at Budel-tracker are the time between transmitting two land-marks was too long to realtime idea of give where the current groups are themselves.   Coming year might will correctly be incorporated this delay in a new game.

Hereby a specification about the things used:
Kazanshoek:
- PA3GEO, PE1EWR, PD3JDM, NL11753
- Diamond vertical and a Popovnic antenna.
- Kenwood porto TH-79Evoor 70 cm
- Kenwood TS711 2 meter transmitter with TNC modem, PC en UIView for APRS recieving.
Bunker:
- PE1KHX, PE1RUI, NL13283, PA1FZH
- Diamond vertical, GP for 2 meter and a HF Beam for APRS recieving
- Yaesu FT-817 for 70 cm
- Motorola GM380 porto for 2 meter
- Bearcat scanner with laptop and UIView for APRS recieving.
- The well known 80 meter foxhunting transmitters and trancievers
During the chase:
- APRS set 1  Budeltracker, Motorola MX1000 en Garmin GPS
- APRS set 2 Budeltracker, T-813 en GPS mouse. During the evening meal at Kazan the plans for coming year were already discussed.

It is certain that we incorporate with the bunker, GPS and APRS in the game, but also the component connections will be used more next time.
